Thistle & Sweetgrass

Hailing from the High Plains of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Northeast Montana, Thistle & Sweetgrass plays neotraditional Celtic music blended with influences of Americana and their own original tunes and songs. 

Originally formed as a tuba and guitar folk-rock fusion band, this husband-wife musical duo transitioned to playing traditional Irish & Scottish music and the result is "Thistle & Sweetgrass."

Janine Welch plays guitar and is the voice of the band's songs. Mike Welch plays whistles, Uilleann pipes, keyboard, and has been known to show up to gigs with a tuba as well. 

The band is currently gathering and prepping material for their first album (or at least an EP.) They are looking for venues to play this material: Celtic festivals, music festivals, harvest festivals, concert halls, pubs & bars.
